Dupo, Illinois (August 29, 2024) – Dupo High School is excited to announce the introduction of a cutting-edge Electrician Course Pathway, set to ignite the passion for electrical systems and empower students with in-demand skills for the future. This comprehensive program, approved by Dupo CUSD 196, will provide students with a hands-on learning experience in electrical systems, preparing them for rewarding careers in the field.
The Electrician Course Pathway will encompass a series of engaging courses, including Production Technology, Beginning Electricity, Electrical Systems I and II, and Workplace Experience. Students will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills through hands-on activities in our state-of-the-art science labs.
To ensure a high-quality learning experience, Dupo High School has partnered with Chris Robinson, a certified CTE instructor from Southwestern Illinois College and member of I.B.E.W. Local 309. He is a journeyman wireman and licensed master electrician, as well as licensed in HVAC with over 30 years of experience. Mr. Robinson's expertise and industry insights will be invaluable in guiding students through the intricacies of electrical systems.

Dupo High School will be seeking grant funding through OKAW to help acquire the necessary power tools and electrical supplies, ensuring that the program remains accessible to all students, regardless of their financial background.
This new Electrician Course Pathway not only benefits Dupo High School students but also presents a unique opportunity for possible future collaboration with neighboring districts.
