Dupo, Illinois (June 3, 2024) – Dupo High School FIRST Robotics Team 7542 is thrilled to announce they have been awarded a grant from the Burns & McDonnell STEM Grant Program. The grant, totaling $3,880, will provide valuable support for the team's ongoing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) initiatives.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Burns & McDonnell Foundation for their generous support,” said Keith Book, principal. “This grant will allow us to expand our program into the physics curriculum. This will be instrumental in helping our students develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills – all essential for success in STEM fields.”
The Burns & McDonnell STEM Grant Program awards funding to schools and organizations across the country working to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. The program recognizes the importance of providing students with engaging and enriching STEM experiences.
About Dupo High School FIRST Robotics Team 7542
The team was established in 2019 to offer Dupo high school students the opportunity to have real world STEM instruction. Each season, the team designs, fabricates, and builds an industrial-scale robot to compete performing complex tasks using automation and operator control. In 2024, Sarah Lord-Dorsett, a proud graduate of Dupo High School and the University of Illinois, joined as a professional mentor from The Boeing Corporation.
